Northern Thai lacquerware is well known to art collectors worldwide, and is acclaimed for some of the finest craftsmanship techniques in the world
Created by carving mango wood with expertise and applying the black resin of the Lak tree as a coating material to give it a fine finish and luster. Each piece receives a seven-layer coat of lacquer to ensure its high quality, and takes 2 months to complete
Following the initial lacquer process, eggshells are thoroughly cleaned and spread out on paper to dry. Once dry, the shells are cracked into thousands of small pieces and applied throughout the bowl. A few more coats of clear lacquer are then applied on top of the eggshell
Vase measures 8 inches high x 3 inches in diameter
