Each ceramic vase is hand-carved and hand-painted by three different kinds of artisan: the harash, who makes unglazed pottery, the zlayiyyah, the zillik-maker, and the tallayah, who produces painted, glazed tableware
Traditionally, the Moroccan artist used three base tones of glaze in green, yellow and brown, which were painted on red or buff-brown earthenware after a white slip had been applied
